Isher Sahota’s comedic period drama GOODNIGHT HENRY has qualified to be considered for the 2023 BAFTA’s and Academy Awards®

Director Isher Sahota’s GOODNIGHT HENRY has qualified to be considered for the 95th Academy® Awards and BAFTA. When the Prime Minister of England dies in questionable circumstances, his closest advisor is left to salvage the country’s trade deal with France and try to protect his country’s reputation.

When the Prime Minister dies in scandalous circumstances, Mr Pageant – his closest advisor – must salvage the country’s free trade deal with the visiting French ambassador whilst limiting the damage a chambermaid may cause to the country’s reputation.

Director and writer Isher Sahota After being selected for a coveted place on the BBC’s New Directors scheme, Isher has directed DOCTORS and FATHER BROWN for BBC Studios, HOLLYOAKS for Lime Pictures/Channel 4, and MCDONALD & DODDS for Mammoth Screen/ITV. Isher is currently directing Film 2 of Series 3 of GRACE for Tall Story/ITV. Earlier this year, Isher completed his debut feature THE EFFECTS OF LYING. Isher also runs Paisley Films with frequent collaborator and producer Jamie Macdonald. Their most recent short film, a period comedy called GOODNIGHT HENRY, is currently on the international festival circuit and won Best Comedy at Flickers Rhode Island. Backed by the BFI, it stars Joseph Marcell, Sharon Rooney, and Ryan Gage. They are currently developing their feature STRANGE FISH with the BFI which Isher is set to write and direct.

BAFTA-nominated producer Jamie Macdonald works in film and TV across fiction, documentary and animation. He’s produced numerous BFI-supported shorts. Recently He produced a six-part online series for Netflix and co-produced a feature documentary, and is currently a slate of feature films, which have development support from the BFI.

The incredible cinematography is created by Adam Singodia and the melodic music has been composed by Darryl O’Donovan.

This timely short can soon be seen at the prestigious London Film Festival, Norwich Film Festival and Rouen – This is England with more to be announced soon.
